The Ringwood Motocross Club was formally known as the Ringwood Schoolboy Scramble Club and caters for school children aged from 6 years old to 18 years years old in five classes from: Automatic 50cc, Junior 65cc, Small Wheel 85cc/150f, Big Wheel 85cc/150f and the final youth class the Seniors who race on 125cc, 144cc and 250 four-stoke machines. (Please read Information page for class ages.)
The Ringwood Motocross Club also has membership for two Adult classes: The AMX Open for 16 year olds to 30 year old. And unlike many clubs run an Adult Veterans (VMX) Open (Over 30 class) for Adult riders and Adult Novice riders (who are scored together). Open means unlimited machine cc.
The Ringwood Club's venues stretch from: Dorset, Wiltshire to Hampshire and once a year they will travel down to Tiverton in Devon. They are always on the look-out for new exciting venues.
The Ringwood Club hold race meetings every fortnight from early February until late October/Early November each year. And all members compete in the Club Championship series, with a big presentation and Disco and the end of each season at St. Leonard's, near Ringwood. And safety is paramount with a team of paramedics and two ambulances always.
You will often see the best Youth and Adult riders in the South at Ringwood events and although the competition is of a high standard, many new members always cut their teeth into the sport with the club, and always proves the best place to start your motocross career as the club is so friendly and well run, and best newcomer awards are always presented each season.
Such is the popularity of the Ringwood Motocross Club that in 2010 they are the biggest licensed BSMA club in the country, from thirteen other clubs affiliated to the BSMA.
The (BSMA) is the British Schoolboy Motorcycle Association, which the Ringwood Motocross Club are affiliated to. It happens to be the largest schoolboy motocross governing body in the UK and carries a £20,000,000 liability insurance at all events.
This is a real family orientated sport and the Ringwood club has members as far afield from Cornwall, Wales, Swindon, Oxford, West Sussex back to Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset. When you become a member you are all encouraged to help with the running of these events, although the first three meetings we like you to sit back and digest what's going on. From there you can help with marshalling duties, lap-scoring, finish flag, scrutineering, clerk of the course, track building and general things to help with the smooth running of the club. Committee positions always become available and with the club being run by volunteers this is always grateful.
Once you have joined you will need to book-in for each race meeting (at least one week prior to the event) with the Racing Secretary to reserve your place in your chosen class. Over night camping is always available making it a real family weekend. Signing-in and bike scrutineering begins between 7.30am and 9.15am at most events. Practice usually starts at 9.30am or 10.00am depending on each tracks agreement with the local council.
The price for your BSMA/AMX license will be - £25.00, for a BSMA/AMX full license (each rider) and £40 for a single membership or £60.00 for a family membership (two or more members in the same family home address.)
After reading this we hope you will join the Ringwood Motocross Club and start your motocross career with a local friendly club which caters for all ages from 6 years old to 65 years of age.
