CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 13 - AUGUST 22nd - TINCLETON.

THE weather turned nasty with wind and rain falling throughout most of the afternoon for the latest round of the club championship series for the Ringwood Motocross club last Sunday at the sandy Tincleton track, near Dorchester in Dorset, which thankfully is all natural sandy terrain with a few jumps and this enabled the club to battle on with the meeting and finish the day with three full blocks of racing, although the riders had their work cut out with the circuit becoming very rough and gnarly as the rain showers continued and the sand becoming very rutted and unpredictable.

Congratulations must go to all the competitors who braved the elements on the day as these conditions proved a real tester to riders and parents alike after enduring several months of dry and dusty circuit conditions all over the country.
With the overall entry down at this meeting the two adult groups came together for combined racing and it was to be Neal Paddington in the AMX class who best rode the muddy conditions winning all three races and in the process pulling a considerable lead in each race claiming top of the podium with a maximum haul of the points on offer. Visiting rider Tom Layton rode three real consistent race to claim overall runners-up with a string of seconds followed in overall third by Jack Mousey who netted himself a couple of thirds and a sixth.

VMX class rider Wayne Stone was mixing it up with the younger riders and seemed to revel in the conditions just as much as Paddington in the AMX and although unable to match his speed was always there in the thick of the action and battled to win all his races for the second full house of the day. Club veteran Nick Seabright returned to the club looking fit after losing three stone in weight and must be pleased with his second overall behind Stone and beating Tim Riggs who secured the final podium place with a couple of fifths and a good third.

Daniel Maxey looked set to win all his races in the Senior class having finished first past the chequered flag in races one and two followed home by Ross Churchill each time. But Churchill had different thoughts to this and must be congratulated for winning the final with Maxey following Churchill past the line in second. Maxey rode hard and deserved the overall victory whilst Danny Jones rode three good consistent races to finish behind Churchill on the day with a brace of thirds.

The spectacle on the day was surely the combined Big Wheel and Small Wheel 85/150f races with almost 30 riders on the gates. Karl Noble really set the pace in the Big Wheel encounters riding the best he’s done for a while winning races one and two with Louis Schmidt tucking into second each time over the finish line. Race three and the track was now becoming real rough and rutty and Noble’s bike sank into a deep groove and although managed to finish the race in third it was Schmidt who took the victory followed by a determined Andy Fitzgerald. The two brilliant race wins and that third enabled Noble to finish the meeting in overall first with Schmidt grabbing second and the ever consistent Andy Fitzgerald took overall third.

Jordan English took the honours in the Small Wheel 85/150 class winning the second race to his credit after finishing fourth in the first encounter and taking a good third in race three. James Ford again rode very well and had a fantastic day finishing overall runner-up proving just how much James loves the mud with a second, third and a fourth on his race card beating Aaron Gordon who claimed a six in race one and two impressive seconds in the remaining motos.

Claiming top spot in the Junior class winning all three muddy encounters was Sam Lycett who just powered his machine through the deep mud and again made these conditions look rather easy for the local Weymouth lad. Leon Read looked unstoppable for the runners-up spot claiming two good seconds but a DNF in the final allowed visitor for the day George Stock to romp home in second overall with some good race scores beating Oakland Poulter who managed to claim the final podium spot.

The Autos tackled a shorter circuit of the rough and sandy venue, and each and every one of them rode superbly. It would be unfair to say any one rider dominated this class as they were all stars on the day, however Lee Percy must be congratulated on winning race one, but the competition was so close with Tyler Rowe coming first in race two and Luke Williamson taking victory in the final which incidentally was Luke’s first ever win with the Ringwood club! With the mud finally settled the overall win went the way of the fast Tyler Rowe who added a couple of seconds to his win with Lee Percy claiming runners-up and Williamson gracefully took overall third. Congratulations to brand new member in this class - Reef Robins who battled throughout the day and completed the overall top six, and won himself a medal in his first ever motocross, Reef’s special trophy will be awarded at Swanmore on September 5th.
